Mark Peterson
Founder

Bringing experience, knowledge, curiosity, and a heart for our kids & adults.

Mark has brought a lifetime of marketing & communications, publishing, writing, consulting, and hands-on experience with him into the Minnesota Field Trip & Activity Library.

Mark is a 1968 graduate of Monticello (MN) High School. A graduate from the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis) with a BA in Religious Studies and History, Mark appreciates experiential learning, hence his interest in field trips and travel. There’s nothing like a good backstory that brings a destination (or curriculum) to life! A personal highlight of this was in 1972 when Mark traveled with 70 other American college students for a summer-long Smithsonian-sponsored archeological dig into northern Israel.

His love for travel, adventure and experiential learning led Mark from travel & tourism into the MN Field Trip & Activity Library. During college and later with his family, he has enjoyed traveling throughout the United States from our nation’s capitol to our states and national parks. During this time he became aware of the many destination gems we have right here in Minnesota… visiting them, learning their backstories, and meeting the people who bring our attractions and destinations to life every day – whether on a family trip or during a leisure group tour. It’s always a wonderful time of discovery.

Mark’s 25 years of participation and leadership in Minnesota tourism and the regional travel industry includes:

      • – Past President & board member of Tour Minnesota Assn. 24 years.
        – Member of Twin Cities Tourism Attractions Assn. 7 years.
        – Past member of the Governor’s MN Tourism Advisory Board. 2 years.

Mark & Amy (married 33 years), reside in Plymouth (MN) and have three wonderful (now adult) kids; Krista, Becca & Andy. In 2011 Mark & Amy completed a 3-week self-guided tour of Spain, in 2015 completed the popular Circle Tour of Lake Superior, a dream they’ve had for many years, and in 2018 spent 10 days in France. This doesn’t include their many other domestic trips throughout the U.S.
