ABOUT TMORA

The Museum of Russian Art (TMORA), often referred to as “a hidden gem in the Twin Cities,” is North America’s only museum devoted to exploring the art and culture of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Additionally, TMORA exhibits and collects the work of émigré artists from those countries, with a special emphasis on artists living in Minnesota.

TMORA presents eight or more exhibitions each year, with items from its permanent collection of over 7,000 works and with art from major collections in the U.S. and abroad. The Museum enhances its exhibitions by presenting concerts, theatrical presentations, lectures, demonstrations, and other unique events for all ages. Housed in a beautifully renovated historic building, the Museum’s multi-level galleries provide a tranquil and intimate setting for its dynamic array of exhibitions and programs.

STORY TIME IN THE GALLERY

Every third Saturday of the month, TMORA hosts a free story time for families and kids in one of the Museum’s galleries. Kids will enjoy investigating artworks, listening to a story related to art and culture of the region, and exploring the museum using a gallery hunt. Each family will receive a copy of the book to take home with them! Registration required.

SCHOOL TOURS | K-12 & University

TMORA’s field trip experiences increase students’ understanding of the art, culture, and history of the region through our collections and exhibitions. Our educators connect students to the art so they can practice recognizing their own and others’ perspectives, by articulating and explaining the perspectives empathetically, respectfully, and thoughtfully. By developing museum literacy skills, students will become lifelong learners in the museum setting.

TMORA offers a variety of school tours

– A class that consists of 10-50 (including yourself) arriving at the museum together to view the galleries with a tour guide.
– Self-Guided Tours (Gallery Hunt available at the front desk)
– A class that consists of 10-50 (including yourself) arriving at the museum together to view the galleries on their own, without a tour guide.
